About Your Treatment

Sports Massage

Sports Massage Therapists use a variety of techniques to manipulate soft tissue


Firstly, I will discuss what issues you have been having, whether it's with your posture, tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain or adhesions (knots) etc


Then, following a postural assessment and muscular imbalance / range of motion tests I will draw up a treatment plan

This may include:

  • Warming up the tissues with Effleurage & Petrissage
  • Myofascial Release (Deep Tissue Massage)
  • Trigger Pointing (Compressions)
  • Frictions
  • Stretching
  • Exercise Plan


These techniques aim to increase circulation and lymphatic drainage which help to provide oxygen and nutrients and remove metabolic waste


They can relieve pain, induce relaxation, prevent injury and help your body and mind restore balance which protects your joints and keeps you healthy

Another way sports people can benefit from treatment is with a Pre-Event or Post-Event massage

This involves a tailored massage to suit you in your activity (ask for details)

Cupping

Myofascial Decompression or Cupping Therapy has been used for centuries (way before Michael Phelps!). Now with modern day research it's amazing to see all of the great benefits


You may have seen red or purple circular marks on people but don't be alarmed as cupping therapy doesn't hurt. Treatment may cause slight localised bruising however we can ease into your therapy, so you feel comfortable


'Cupping' involves placing cups on the skin and using suction to draw in local soft tissue. There are various practiced methods and techniques


Dry-Cupping treatment can help:

  • Aid the removal of metabolic waste products (often referred to as toxins)
  • Reduce stress & anxiety - This can be in the short term because of the initial energy expenditure used by your lymphatic system and consequential relaxation effects. Or in the long term as with massage and exercise you start to feel better. 
  • Help reduce stretch marks
  • Help the realignment of scar tissue
  • Decrease gastrointestinal issues
  • Treat muscular pain & dysfunction

And many more

Fitness

As a trained Strength and Conditioning Coach, I can offer advice and guidance on a range of fitness aspects. Not only this but exercise and rehabilitation are an essential part of your path to optimum health


Depending on your condition and symptoms I may conclude that you will benefit from an exercise plan or some stretching sessions. The exercise plan will be included as part of your treatment and a 30-minute stretching session can be added on to your consultation


Exercise and Stretching programmes can be sent to your phone and a range of techniques will be used including:

  • Static Stretching
  • Dynamic Stretching
  • Passive Stretching
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)


These will aim to increase flexibility and range of motion giving you the benefits of less chance of injury, reduced tension, improved posture and day-to-day activities


Please don't hesitate to ask about further exercise and strength training programmes including programmes for specific sports

Rehabilitation

Whether you're recovering from an injury or dealing with aches and pains, the right rehabilitation can help you back on track. 


Exercises can be simple and performed at-home, they can include resistance band work, or even be tailored to suit your current gym programme.


I understand that not everybody wants to do exercises! So I'll make sure it's right for you.
